| Written by writeasong.org |
A commercial jingle is a short song - usually between fifteen seconds and a minute long - that is used to advertise a product. Jingles are often heard in TV ads and radio ads. Jingle writing can provide you with a substantial amount of income. The purpose of a commercial jingle is to make the listener remember and think about the product that is being advertised. Therefore, it is essential that the jingle be memorable. A jingle should have a simple catchy melody, an appealing rhythm and lyrics that people will want to sing again and again. When you write an advertising jingle, be sure to include the name of the product in the lyrics. In terms of song structure, a jingle resembles the chorus, or part of the chorus, of a longer song. In order for you to write a good jingle, you have to understand the product that you are writing about. What are its benefits? Why would someone want to buy it? Think about the type of person that the product is targeting, and the type of music that they would listen to. For example, a jingle for a fast food restaurant might be written in a hip-hop style, in order to attract young, urban customers. To become a successful jingle writer, you should be able to write jingles in many different musical genres, so that you can write jingles for many different types of products. Therefore, when you create a demo, you should include examples of short songs (up to 30 seconds long) and jingles in different musical styles. Once your demo is ready, you can submit it to a local TV or radio station or to the music department of an advertising agency. |
